Xbox’s Free Play Days program continues to deliver opportunities for players to try major titles at no cost, and this weekend’s lineup brings a mix of genres that should appeal to a wide range of gamers. Whether you’re interested in competitive multiplayer, cooperative shooters, arcade racing, or massive online worlds, the March event has several notable games available to test out.

The Free Play Days event kicks off on Thursday, March 5, and most of the titles remain playable until Sunday, March 8. Two of the featured games — Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and Black Desert — are accessible to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential members during the event. Meanwhile, FBC: Firebreak and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 are open to all Xbox players, even those without a Game Pass subscription.

Among the standout offerings is Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which is providing one of the most generous trials of the weekend. From March 5 at 10 AM PT until March 9 at 10 AM PT, players can jump into both the Multiplayer and Zombies modes for free. The multiplayer portion features more than 25 maps, including the ever-popular Nuketown as well as newer Season 02 maps such as Torment, Sake, and Nexus. The remastered Slums map from Black Ops 2 also makes an appearance.

The Zombies experience is just as expansive. Players can try the new Mars Survival map, explore two traditional round-based Zombies maps, and experiment with the chaotic Cursed Survival mode. For longtime Call of Duty fans or newcomers curious about the latest installment, this trial offers a solid preview of what the game brings to the table.

Co-op shooter fans may want to spend some time with FBC: Firebreak, another title included in the weekend event. Available from March 5 through March 8, the game places players inside a mysterious government agency that is under siege from strange supernatural forces. As members of the Firebreak unit, players must enter dangerous areas within the agency’s headquarters, face bizarre threats, and attempt to stabilize the situation. The game is optimized for Xbox Series X|S and supports Xbox Play Anywhere, making it convenient for players who switch between platforms.

For those seeking something more colorful and fast-paced, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds delivers an energetic kart racing experience. The game allows players to race across multiple environments — including land, sea, air, and space — while using Travel Rings to warp between dimensions during races. Featuring 23 characters from the Sonic universe, the game emphasizes customization and gadget-based racing strategies. Players who enjoy the trial can take advantage of a 40% discount available until March 11 as part of Xbox’s Best Rated Sale.

On the other end of the spectrum, Black Desert provides a sprawling MMO experience. The game is currently celebrating its Cross-play 6th Anniversary, and the timing of the Free Play Days trial aligns perfectly with a range of special in-game events. New players can also benefit from the Olvia Academy update, which streamlines the early experience and helps players quickly learn the game’s systems. For those who want a head start, the Seraph Starter Edition is available for a limited time until March 25.
