Ethics Beyond High School is a sophisticated academic, Internet use and citizenship program designed to improve ethical reasoning skills, teach practical skills and develop critical thinking skills in students. This program is designed to assist students in developing a greater understanding of ethics, Internet citizenship and the challenges faced when making ethical decisions.
Dr. Daniel Dutton, who serves as the Executive Director of Ethics Beyond High School, is a renowned ethicist and a guest lecturer in ethics at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He has lectured to hundreds of high school and college students, parents and teachers on the topic of ethics.
Ethics Beyond High School is an established program that has enjoyed success throughout the world. Since its creation in 1989, over 400 schools have used this program and thousands of students have been educated about issues of ethics in their daily lives. Since 1989, Ethics Beyond High School has been developed in more than 30 foreign languages in America, Europe and Africa. In addition, it is also used in more than 35 states in America and in 17 foreign countries.
The project includes more than 100 audio and video lessons that teach students the concepts of academic ethics, ethical Internet use, computer ethics, responsible citizenship, citizenship, Internet safety, informed consent, cultural diversity, privacy and accountability.
In the classroom, students are given computer simulations that teach them the concepts of ethical decision making. In the simulations, students are asked to use the Internet to search for information, make choices, share information, engage in cyber bullying, and take part in cyber activism.
The computer simulations are offered in 6 different languages, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic, and Turkish.
In addition to the classroom lessons, Ethics Beyond High School also includes 4 optional modules:
- Ethics Module: This module contains 20 audio lessons on topics including the five principles of academic ethics, the principles of responsible citizenship, communicating and engaging in ethical Internet use, cyber bullying, and cyber activism.
- Citizenship Module: This module contains 20 audio lessons on topics including responsible citizenship, public speaking, human rights, civic engagement, and the community, social and political responsibilities of citizens.
- Internet Safety Module: This module contains 20 audio lessons on topics including online privacy and sharing information online, Internet safety for teens, gender issues in online safety, and hacking.
- Ethics Essentials: This module contains 9 audio lessons that teach the five principles of academic ethics, critical thinking, intellectual honesty, confidentiality, and privacy.
