In recent years, Internet access has become more ubiquitous in schools. Not only can students use the Internet for personal reasons such as homework and communication with friends, but they also have the opportunity to utilize the Internet for purposes of academic excellence.
There is, however, a significant and growing concern about Internet use in schools. The issue is especially significant when students are using the Internet to access Internet-based learning resources. This paper is concerned with academic misconduct such as plagiarism, cheating and Internet use during school hours. It is the first paper on Internet Use and Academic Ethics, which will help educators, parents, and students to navigate this growing problem and lead them to make responsible Internet use decisions.

A former high school English teacher, Ms. Zemtsova is a graduate of Concordia University (Montreal, Canada) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She has presented at various educational conferences and has published in peer-reviewed journals.

Her education background includes a B.Sc. in Computer Science and M.Sc. in Business and she has worked as a systems analyst and IT consultant for 8 years. She has worked with a variety of clients including educational institutions, non-profit organizations and commercial businesses in Alberta.
